Capistrano and HIS WARRIOR

The warrior of Capistrano and the symbol of the Abruzzo al'estero, perhaps better known abroad than in Italy itself. The mystery, the charm, the uniqueness of its kind, makes this artifact of pre-Roman origins object of study and research.

The sculpture, dating from the mid-sixth century. BC, represents a male figure with arms folded on his chest, in military costume, is actually a funerary statue of a warrior prince, placed on top of the mound of earth placed over the grave. The discovery was fortuitous in 1934 in the village of Capistrano (Aq), during the work of clearing of land.
